Instant noodles not so much. Instant gratification - YES!
A Maggi to meal recipe that is going to leave you full yet wanting for more.
The only instant thing about 2-minute noodles in my kitchen is the instant gratification it brings. I don’t find myself indulging in them very often except when I don’t have the time to cook myself a proper meal. Or just on days, I think I am too busy to cook - for most of these bowls end up in a filling meal, using perhaps leftovers from the fridge or toppings that get ready in almost the same time as the noodles cook.
In my latest adventure with Maggi, boiled baby potatoes, green chillies and a fried egg also came to the party. The idea of using potatoes and green chilli comes from a Maggi version that an uncle of mine would make for the kids may be in the early 20s. I already had baby boiled potatoes, so it was much easier to adapt them almost into crispy chips. And of course, not to forget fresh dill sprinkles - because I can’t resist myself from putting a handful in everything I am cooking these days.
You will need:
2-3 baby potatoes - chopped into discs
2 green chillies
2-3 garlic cloves
An egg - to be panfried
A stalk in all of chopped Dill (soya) to sprinkle
Chilli flakes
A packet of Maggi noodles.
Salt to season
And 12 minutes in all.
Here’s what to do
In a saucepan boil water and cook noodles with the tastemaker.
While the noodles are cooking, take another pan (preferably nonstick) and drizzle oil as the pan come up to heat.
Fry a couple of crushed garlic cloves, green chillies. The chillies will blister and splatter for some seconds.
Add the potato discs, giving it two minutes on each side to crisp up.
Break an egg on another side of the pan and cook it to your preference.
Add salt as per taste, chilli flakes and dill sprinkle. Move around everything to mix seasoning and close the gas.
Now take all your fried stuff, except the egg and mix with Maggi cooked in the other pot. Then add your egg, so as to prevent breaking.
Make sure everything in the pan, including the oil sticks to the noodles.
It’s done. Go eat.
I ate it straight from the pan because of my time crunch narrative to self and obviously one less dish to wash afterwards.
